Resumo:

This paper reiterates the significance of computational thinking (CT) skills and aims to shed light on the insights, opportunities, and challenges associated with CT assessment. We propose a methodology to characterize the current state-of-the-art in CT assessment, and we identify the principal characteristics, strategies, difficulties, challenges, and solutions in this domain. Our research consists of two main phases: a Systematic Literature Mapping (SLM) and a survey conducted among researchers whose works were included in the SLM. Our findings affirm that CT skills are indispensable for problem-solving and critical thinking across diverse professions, and incorporating CT education can enhance students’ aptitude to tackle complex challenges. Moreover, we identify several challenges and opportunities in CT assessment, including the need for standardized assessment tools.
